# Publish dashboard changes (new experience)

Make your dashboard updates visible so everyone sees the latest insights.

{% hint style="info" %}
You are viewing documentation for the [new dashboards experience](/basics/dashboards-new-experience/dashboards-new-experience.md).
{% endhint %}

When you [edit a dashboard](/basics/dashboards-new-experience/create-a-dashboard.md), your changes are not visible until you publish them.

You can publish your changes at any time while you are in editing mode.

### Publish using the publish button

In the toolbar, click **Publish**.

Your changes are saved and the dashboard switches back to View mode.

### Publish when switching to viewing mode

If you try to switch from editing mode to viewing mode without publishing, a message appears to tell you that you have unpublished changes.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://900295827-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F7pj8v25BOyqZTdG5mdD1%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-d2fb67c8884d3c8e822e6cf5adf7c02fbb10898a%2Fimage%20(751).png?alt=media" alt="" width="425"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

1. Click **Editing** in the toolbar and select **View**.
2. In the **Unpublished changes** message, click **Publish**.

Your changes are published and the dashboard switches to viewing mode.

### Other options in the unpublished changes message

When the **Unpublished changes** message appears, you might also choose:

* **Discard changes** to remove your edits and return to the previously published version of the dashboard.
* **Keep editing** to stay in editing mode and continue working on the dashboard.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.phocassoftware.com/basics/dashboards-new-experience/publish-dashboard-changes-new-experience.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
