# Reset your analysis

Use the Reset tool to clear your selections and start fresh.

{% hint style="info" %}
User permission: **Query**
{% endhint %}

During your analysis in Flex Modes, you might want to stop what you are doing and start again.

Click **Reset** to restore your workspace to its original state.

What gets restored depends on where you started your analysis: the default view of the database or a favorite.

#### Reset data in a database

If you're in a database, clicking **Reset** restores the default view of the database. The following changes occur:

* Toolbar menus, such as **Property**, **Stream**, and **Period**, return to their default selections. The **Mode** setting remains unchanged.
* The grid returns to the **Summary** view.
* Columns you added are removed and columns you hid become visible again.
* Advanced search filters and conditional formatting are cleared.

#### Reset data in a favorite

If you’re in a favorite, clicking **Reset** restores the saved state of the favorite. This includes the same changes listed above, but the settings will match the way the favorite was originally saved.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.phocassoftware.com/flex-modes/save-and-share-your-work/reset-your-analysis.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
