# Manage customer segmentation

Learn about the administrator tasks for giving users access to Sales Insights, setting up customer segmentation, and managing configuration changes.

User permissions: Administration
{% endhint %}

Use this page to manage access and setup for Sales Insights: Customer segmentation.

### Give users access to Sales Insights

1. Assign the Sales Insights license to users.
   * For one user, use the [user account page](/administration/users/add-update-user.md).
   * For multiple users, use the [bulk update tool](/administration/users/add-update-user/user-permissions.md) or [License view](/administration/users.md#users-licenceview) on the **Users** page.
2. Give users access to the required database. See [Manage a user's database access and restrictions](/administration/users/manage-a-users-database-access-and-restrictions.md).

### Set up customer segmentation

1. [Set up a database](/sales-insights/set-up-and-manage-sales-insights/set-up-a-database.md) to configure an unconfigured database for customer segmentation.
2. [Set up the customer profile feature](/sales-insights/set-up-and-manage-sales-insights/set-up-the-customer-profile-feature.md) to map the data used to generate customer profiles and opportunities.

### Next step

After setup, open the [Customer segmentation page](/sales-insights/explore-customer-insights/use-customer-segmentation.md) to review the results and understand how the page works.

(Optional) [Edit customer segmentation](/sales-insights/set-up-and-manage-sales-insights/edit-customer-segmentation.md) to update the configuration, remove customers, or create threshold sets.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.phocassoftware.com/sales-insights/set-up-and-manage-sales-insights/manage-customer-segmentation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
